“For Syria.. Damascus,” an exhibition of the Architecture faculty in Damascus University to preserve old Damascus City

Damascus, SANA-Under the patronage of Vice President, Dr. Najah Al-Attar, the Faculty of Architecture Engineering inaugurated on Wednesday an exhibition entitled “for Syria.. Damascus,” which included works and projects for 200 students about historic buildings and sites in the old city of Damascus.

The works participating in the exhibition which lasts for a week at Reda saeed Hall for conferences to preserve the social, physical and cultural environment, the spiritual and economic spirit of old Damascus as it is a sustainable, living and developed city and seeking to lift the city from the endangered world heritage list which was imposed by the United Nations Educational, scientific and cultural organization.

The exhibition supervisor, Dr. Abeer Arqawi, affirmed the importance of providing a national plan with the participation of all ministries, bodies and agencies to complete measures to preserve and protect the old city of Damascus through providing a chart showing priorities for intervention in areas where they need to intervene.

In a statement to the reporters, Minister of higher Education and scientific research Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, who represented Dr. Najah Al Attar to the event, expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted by the work team, including students and professors, in order to complete the work and the plans included in the exhibition, in cooperation with the Governorate of Damascus.
