Seven monkeypox cases recorded in Spain

Madrid,SANA- Health officials in Spain reported seven cases of monkeypox virus and 24 suspected cases in the capital, Madrid and the Canary Islands.

Minister of Health of the Community of Madrid, Enrique Ruiz Escudero, said in a statement to media outlets that the cases discovered in the Spanish capital are not serious, noting that all the infected are men.

Escudero stated that the state of health alert will be activated and priority will be given to epidemiological surveillance, while continuing to isolate the infected and monitor their health development.

Spanish Ministry of Health had announced earlier the discovery of 23 possible cases of monkeypox in the capital, Madrid.
