Patriarch Yazigi calls for realizing peace in Syria and releasing abducted bishops

Washington, SANA- Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East John X Yazigi reiterated his call for realizing peace in Syria and the region.

“We are praying for realizing peace in Syria, preserving stability in Lebanon and in all the Middle East and releasing bishops Yohanna Ibrahim and Boutros Yazigi who were kidnapped in Aleppo,” Yazigi said in a mass held at the American city of Boston at the end of the conference of the Archdiocese of New York and North America.

At a speech at the end of the conference, Yazigi tackled the situation in the Middle East and its consequences as well as the issue of the two kidnapped bishops, saying “We were not created to be displaced in foreign lands, and we are not happy to see our brothers calling upon the embassies to grant them visas…despite our suffering, our will is strong and our determination is absolute.”

on July 22nd, Yazigi stressed that the Antioch Church calls for adopting the language of dialogue and peaceful solutions across the world, realizing peace in Syria and maintaining stability in Lebanon.

“The language of terrorism, Takfiri and kidnaping is unfamiliar of the past and present of the Middle East,” Yazigi said in a statement in US, stressing that Christians are commitment to their lands whatever the difficulties were.
