Mikdad: The archaeological find in al-Rastan poses additional evidence of Syria’s historical role

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, affirmed that the important regional and global archaeological find in the city of al-Rastan in the Homs countryside poses further evidence of Syria’s historical role as a center of civilized and cultural radiation and for what it embraces of the civilizational heritage of all mankind.

“this discovery of a rare 1,600-year-old mosaic that dates to the Roman era is a new, brilliant step in the way of thwarting all the systematic and deliberate attempts made by the terrorist organizations and their sponsors to loot and destroy antiquities and historical cultural monuments in Syria”, Mikdad tweeted on the ministry’s account on Sunday.

“there is no place for despair and surrender in Syria, as its people are victorious, terrorism and its sponsors are defeated, and hope for a bright future that is renewed every day” Mikdad concluded.

The General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums announced On 12th of this month the discovery of a rare archaeological find   in al-Rastan, Homs Governorate which is unprecedented mosaic dates  back to the Roman era.
