E-Pay Exhibition and Conference kicks off in Damascus

Damascus, SANA- Activities of the second E-Pay exhibition and conference were launched Thursday at Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.

The event is organized by the Syrian Computer Society (SCS) in cooperation with Trust Company for Exhibitions and Conferences (Trust. Expo)

“Syria was able, despite the blockade and the repercussions of the terrorist war to which it was subjected, to launch electronic payment with its local expertise through banks, electronic payment companies and telecommunications companies, Minister of Communications and Technology,” Communication Minister, Iyad al-Khatib, said.

He pointed out that the electronic payment project is one of the key projects in the digital transformation strategy of government services, which the ministry is working on with the central bank, which will contribute to the advancement of Syria and its recovery and keeping pace with technological and knowledge progress.

The governor of the Central Bank of Syria (CBS), Mohammed Essam Hazima, stressed the importance of the exhibition to achieve the goal of spreading the culture of electronic payment, exchanging experiences and information among participants and benefiting from recommendations and proposals that benefit decision makers in the interests of the citizen and the country.

For his part, the chairman of the conference, Dr. Iyad zukar, chairman of the administrative committee of the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics, said that the conference comes within the framework of the digital transformation strategy, which is one of the most prominent priorities for achieving sustainable development.

Events of the exhibition and conference will last for two days, during which multiple dialogue sessions will be held on the legal, applied and technical framework of the electronic payment system and the used advanced technologies .
